A native of Lubbock, TX and a resident of Zachary, LA, she passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the age of 38. Veronica was a 1997 honors graduate of Levelland High School in Levelland, TX and a 1999 honors graduate of South Plains College with an Associate in Arts degree and became a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society while working for CEV Multimedia in Lubbock, TX. Her education continued when she graduated on the Dean’s List from Texas Tech University with a Bachelors of Art Degree in English along with studying abroad in Seville, Spain.  In 2004, Veronica graduated from the University of Florida with a Masters of Arts Degree in Latin American Studies and worked for the Dallas Challenge in Dallas, TX.  From 2006 until 2007 she worked for Horizon Middle School in Aurora, Colorado and in 2007, she began working for Pearson Publishing in College Station, TX and Baton Rouge, LA until 2009. While in Tampa, FL for work, Veronica met her husband Will and they were married in March of 2009. They then began their family together in Zachary, LA.  She was a writer and had a Blog on her cancer journey. She wrote of spirituality, and recognizing God’s presence in life.  She loved her family, her life, and God. She is greatly loved and will be dearly missed. Veronica is survived by her husband Will Waldrop; her 2 daughters, Natalia Grace Waldrop & Karina Faith Waldrop; parents John and Olga Sparks, all of Zachary, LA; and brother Michael Sparks of Lubbock, TX. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at in the Parish Hall of First United Methodist Church (930 North Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70802) from 12:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at church in the Parish Hall from 9:30 am until the Celebration of Life Service in the Sanctuary at 11:00 AM officiated by Rev. Brady Whitton.
