Scott Joseph Folse passed away unexpectedly on Monday November 13, 2017 at 54 years of age. Born on October 5, 1963 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Scott was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge and Prairieville. A humble man deeply grounded in faith, his gentle, quiet and loving spirit touched the lives of everyone he met. Scott was a devoted husband, father, son and friend to all. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church since 1976 where he served as a lector for the past 13 years. Scott graduated from Episcopal High School in 1981 and immediately made his way to Louisiana State University. He received a bachelor of science in 1986, a Juris Doctorate from the Paul M. Hebert LSU Law Center in 1989, and an Executive MBA in 1996. While at LSU, Scott’s involvement with Sigma Chi Fraternity became a passion.  He served as Grand Consul in 1985, and following graduation, he remained a mentor and Alumni Advisor. Scott was an active alumnus of The Episcopal School of Baton Rouge, where he was a past board member. Scott joined the family business founded by his father Dexter Joseph Folse, Delta Mechanical Inc., DMI, in 1990 and eventually became president and owner. His motivation and dedication led him to grow the company tremendously. He founded two additional companies: Tower Lighting and Mustang Coatings. His exemplary work ethic, character and creative innovations were known to all.  Scott was a longtime member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO), and YPO Gold where he cultivated enduring friendships. He was an active member and Past Chairman of The Baton Rouge Assembly. He served as a board member of the Association of Builders and Contractors, and Ducks Unlimited. Scott had a special gift for mentoring young adults, whether friends of his children, friends in need or those seeking companionship. He volunteered at Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for many years. As a Sigma Chi Alumni Advisor, he engaged in the spiritual and professional formation of young men. Scott was a father figure to many, and loved by all. His kindness, gentleness and respect reflected the passion he had for each individual’s life.  More than anything, Scott loved spending time with his devoted wife Julie and children, Laura, Scott and Brennan. The Folses loved being together and are blessed with so many family memories full of laughter and joy. He was passionately involved with his children’s lives and endeavors. A true sportsman, Scott cherished spending time in the rich resources of Louisiana with his family and friends. He began duck hunting in the Pecan Island marsh as a young boy with his father and ultimately became a founding member of the Teal Prairie and White Lake Hunting Clubs in Pecan Island, where he cultivated life long friendships with the local community. He also co-founded Red Doe hunting club in Mississippi. Scott introduced this love to family and countless friends. Scott was an avid adventurer and he and Julie loved to travel and explore the world. Above all, he enjoyed spending time together at their home in the country.
