James J. ‘Uncle Jimmy’ McLin passed in peace Nov. 2, 2017 at the age of 88, born February 15, 1929. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his beloved wife Sybil McLin, his parents Louis Charles “L.C.” and Nellie McLin, his two brothers Frank and William “Bill”, his sister Nellie Belle, and baby McLin. He is survived by his special nieces and nephews Aniece and Will Galloway, Ricky Galloway, Miki Lala, Alana Granados, Robin Rayburn, Larry and Connie Francis, Kenny and Wanda Francis, Randy Francis, Charles Ray Givens, Clayton, Eric and Toby Seguin, Daniel Ruegg and super special great niece and his heart, Teagan Maxley Galloway. His extended family includes many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. He was a 50+ year member of the Baton Rouge Local Sheet Metal Union 214 and 50+ year member of the St. Anthony & St. Louis King of France ushers society. As the old southern saying goes, ‘Uncle Jimmy put the gentle in gentleman’. Throughout his lifetime Uncle Jimmy showed nothing but kindness to every man, woman or child he ever met. Though he was often soft spoken, quiet and reserved, his dedication to friends and family was immeasurable. On many occasions he would open his heart, his home and his wallet to help friends, relatives, local charities and others in need. It goes without saying that if you had Uncle Jimmy as a friend, you had a friend for life. He was truly a father figure and grandfather figure for a wide circle of loved ones. He was our Dad…only without the paperwork. And of course his love was always unconditional. Though the years may pass, we will never forget the honor it was to have known and loved this special man. We would like to thank Amedisys Home Health & Hospice and also Always Best Care sitters for their assistance in caring for Uncle Jim. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, on Saturday evening, November 4, 2017, from 4 pm until 8 pm.
