Hugh Raymond McMillin Jr. was born on November 4th, 1940, and went to meet his Lord and Savior on February 15th, 2017 at 76 years old. He was a beloved husband, brother to six siblings, a father of five, a grandfather of ten, and uncle. Affectionately known as our “Daddy-Mac.” Raymond was an Air Force Veteran of 11 years, who served 3 tours in Vietnam. A true patriot who loved God, his country, family and canned figs (not necessarily in that order). He traveled extensively working with jet engines and was blessed to have visited many amazing places in the world collecting memories. He loved to recount stories about family, his travels, and RV’ing, and never met a stranger. He retired from Entergy in 1996. He was a great cook, master of the grill, and his specialty was all you could eat pancakes. He is survived by his wife, Catherine “Kitty” Trahan McMillin, four sons, Doug, Tony, Chris and Clarissa, Brian and Jennifer, and only daughter, Alicia and Randy Vick M.D. He was blessed with grandchildren, Stephen, Madison, Marshall, Baylie, Jack, McCall, Carson, Mia, Julia, and Blaine. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends, and remembered for his determination and strength, big heart, and tall tales. He is preceded in death by his parents Hugh Raymond Sr. and Hazel Bertrand McMillin of Welsh, and his beloved grandparents Elvis Buckner (Daddy-Mac) and Geneva McMillin. Thank you to the doctors and staff of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and OLOL Hospital. A very special thank you to the doctors and staff of: Bryan Bienvenue, Jeff Hyde, Louis Barfield, Richard Byrd, Britt Murrill, Stephen R. Vick, the respiratory team and CCMS of OLOL, and for all of the continued prayers and love we have received throughout his journey. Visitation begins at 9 am on Friday, February 17 at Rabenhorst on Government Street, followed by service at noon and burial at Port Hudson, LA, National Cemetery at 2:30 pm.
