Hubert Anthony Ricard, Sr. passed away peacefully on August 3, 2017 at the age of 92 surrounded by his family. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on December 15, 1924, where he was a longtime native and a resident of Houston, Texas.  Hubert Sr. (nicknamed, Potee) was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, and will be deeply missed by all his family and friends. He is survived by his 8 children; Hubert Jr. and Dennis Ricard of Houston, Texas, Deborah (Victor) Patin of Austin, Texas, Jeanne (Kenneth) Patin of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Suzanne (Robert) Wise of Cullowhee, North Carolina, Milissa Rozier of Cypress, Texas, Roberta (Joseph K) Darensbourg of Houston, Texas, and Carmel (Henry, Jr.) Domingue of Fredericksburg, Virginia; 23 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and siblings; Edwin (Tito) Ricard of Anderson, IN, Larry Ricard of Harbor City, CA, Lucy Lerma of Houston, TX, Kirby Ricard of Baton Rouge, LA and several sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Marion Ann Folse Ricard, parents; Lydia Verrett and Gilbert Ricard, Sr., father and mother-in-law, Josephine and Numa Folse Sr. and 9 siblings. He was a skilled craftsman, foreman for several local contractors and a retired self-employed carpenter. A man of deep Christian faith and a longtime member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He served as a church usher and participated in several church festivals, attended numerous men’s retreats and donated his carpenter skills to serve others. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, The Holy Name Society, The Carpenter’s Local Union 1098 and United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America.  Hubert’s visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 12:30 pm with the Blessed Mother’s rosary at 1:00 pm followed by Mass and Christian Burial celebrated by Reverend Msgr. Robert Berggreen at 1:30 pm at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Interment will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Services provided by Rabenhorst Funeral Home-Downtown, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  All floral deliveries should be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Heart Association or The Alzheimer’s Association.
