Allen J. Miller

A native and resident of Baton Rouge, Allen passed away on October 2, 2017 at the age of 67. Allen was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School where he played football.  He then went on to USL where he also played football.  He was a 1973 graduate of USL.  Allen enjoyed spending time with his wife, Debbie, their 3 children, and 8 grandchildren.  He especially loved to travel to areas where he could scuba dive or visit the mountains of North Carolina.  Allen always had a project such as keeping up his immaculate yard, building lamps or model airplanes, or building any request from his grandchildren.  One could always find Allen in the kitchen; his love for cooking and baking was known by all who knew him.  As a former member of St. Andrews United Methodist, he was a Sunday School teacher and youth group counselor.  Allen was an active member of First United Methodist, and a loved member of the Wesley Sunday School class. He is survived by his wife Deborah Miller of Baton Rouge; one son, Trevon Miller (wife Dori) of Madison, MS; two daughters, Jessica Miller Guidry (husband Ben) of Youngsville, LA & Laurie Miller Faul (husband Jason) of Baton Rouge, LA; 8 grandchildren, Cameron & Kylie Miller, Ryleigh & Pierce Guidry, Brady, Chase, Tucker, & Mackenzie Faul; one brother, Jimmy Miller of Watson, LA; and one sister, Sharon Melancon of Prairieville, LA. Allen is preceded in death by his father Houston Miller, mother, Elenora Matherne Miller, and sister, Rae Ellen Beckham. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at First United Methodist Church (930 North Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70802) from 10:00 am until the Memorial Service at 11:00 am officiated by Rev. Fred Wideman. Inurnment will follow in the Church Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation in Allen’s name may be made to Cancer Service of Baton Rouge and St. Joseph Hospice. The family would like to than the Wesley Sunday School Class, Dr. Jack Winters, Dr. Michael Castine, Dr. William Hines, & the entire care team over the years at M.D. Anderson.
